Just Movies

Due to the fact that all of our actors are people that we both see on a daily basis, scheduling filming was easy in that way. We created a group chat for easy communication, which ended up being extremely helpful. Although it wasn't as helpful as seeing the people in person. Which is why our casting was so important. Because we casted people that at least one of us sees on a day to day basis, It was extremely convenient for us to communicate with or actors both in person and online. Scheduling filming was also easier than expected. There was a holiday gala taking place close to when we wanted to film, so that was a pro and a con. Due to the holiday gala, we were able to film just before and after the gala took place, but also it did cut filming a little short. But all in all, the scheduling of filming actually went surprisingly well.

As Marin and I are ready to begin filming our movie, it is essential to have a cast who will portray our characters accurately and efficiently. Mary Margaret Steber is a theater classmate of ours who is ready to play “Rebecca” in our movie. In our film, Rebecca  Davids  is a 16-year-old hard working student. She is the stereotypical smart and beautiful girl who is extremely invested in her academics. We chose Mary Margret Steber for this role because she is not only reliable, but  also,  she is funny and is  a  earnest student in real  life.  Graham Fitzgerald  is a 17-year-old boy who hasn’t had to work for anything. He hates Rebecca as he sees her as a “try hard” and thinks she is constantly trying to prove she is the smartest and she is the best. Graham is the stereotypical jock boy. We chose Andrew Sapienza for this role due to his experience in the drama program and his strengths as an actor. Having had the opportunity to act close...

Obviously there were many camera shots. We used over the shoulder shots in order to give the audience a more realistic in the moment feeling. This shot helps to show the audience exactly what the characters are seeing. In the very beginning of our movie, we had multiple establishing shots. This was the audience has some background so that they can see that the characters are in a school, and then from there they are in the school theater. We used a lot of low angle shots so that way it was like the audience had a type of fly on the wall effect. Also this was the way that we had the smoothest shot possible. I was holding the camera as Grace (my co-director) rolled me round in a chair.
