Just Movies

Love Simon is a cliche rom-com that is about a young member of the LGBTQ community who has yet to come out. In the first five minutes of the movie, the protagonist, Simon, gives us an overview of his life and how his family is the average American family. How he loves his parents and his quirky little sister, we get a few shots of the family doing average family things and showing their happy times together. This introduces Simon as the main character obviously, but also as just an average teen. This creates a sense of familiarity between the audience and the characters, making it easier to relate to Simon and therefore more invested in his life.

The Kissing Booth is a new movie  directed by  Vince Marcello.  It stars Molly Ringwald,  Joey King ,  Jacob Elordi  and  Joel Courtney . It is a romantic comedy with just some hints of drama. The first five minutes of the movie include the opening credits along with a quick over view of the characters life, along with being introduced to the most prominent traits of characters. For example we are introduced to Elle Evans who is extremely unlucky, and hasn't quite caught on to the fact that she is now this new found women and has a women's body. 

Grace Lumpkin and I have decided to do a romantic comedy film. The audience available in our media studies class would do best with something more humerus, we have decided that something dramatic wouldn't be as popular. While I am not tech-savy per say, film is something I am extremely passionate about. As previously stated, I am extremely excited to make a movie that is something people will laugh with, but won't necessarily laugh at. I want it to be humerus, but not to the point where people are laughing at it and making fun of it. Grace and I work really well together as partners. I think that working with Grace will be beneficial for both of us because while we both goof off a lot, we also make sure to keep each other on track. Working with Grace will be helpful because she is really good at knowing when to buckle down and get work done. 

I am extremely interested the film option for the project. The dream would be to become an on-screen actress. Learning the backstage sections of film making would be extremely helpful for real world experience. It is obvious that many people get deeply effected by films, but I have this strange connection with them. They effect me and my life choices for years after seeing them. I don't see them in a way that makes me think that whatever the film was showing I could now do, but that I could portray that. I am beyond excited to work on making even the first few minutes of mine and grace's film to be absolutely fantastic.

Journalism is an extremely difficult career. Being a journalist means being a fast learner, and quick witted. I think that learning to be a good journalist and therefore everything stated above could be helpful in all aspects of my life. I like to think of myself as a good writer, which would be helpful when it come to actual construction of the magazine. I also am OCD which in this case would be beneficial in order to make the magazine pretty and aesthetically pleasing. I think that this option would be extremely difficult for me personally because I am not technologically savvy. Along with the fact that it is not something I am particularly interested in. Not to mention the fact that I don't really know how to use photo shop and other picture editing apps.
